Examination
The Hawthorn Studio of Dance offers examinations in both Classical Ballet and Theatrical Dancing. They are highly recommended as they give the student an exciting challenge, build confidence and sense of performance. The examinations help strengthen the technical standard and gives the child true belief in their own potential. Below is a brief outline of what the school has to offer.
Royal Academy of Dance A worldwide recognized syllabus. Available for students who study Classical Ballet from the age of 6 years. Graded Examinations are held annually from Primary to Grade 8 Level. We recommend students attend two ballet classes a week to reach examination standard. Vocational Graded Examinations are offered to the more serious ballet student from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2. Students must attend three or more classes to be eligible to sit for the Major Syllabus Examinations.
Theatrical Dancing Examinations A Victorian based syllabus for the student who studies Jazz or Tap dancing. Available for students from the age of 6 years. Primary to Level 6 for the junior to intermediate levels and Bronze, Silver and Gold for the more serious advanced student. Two or more classes must be attended to reach the examination standard.
Scholarship
To help nurture talented and enthusiatic students the Hawthorn Studio of Dance offers Scholarships in Classical Ballet and Theatrical Dancing. These classes are held annually at Junior, Intermediate and Senior Levels. Students must have been enrolled at the studio for one year to be eligible for an award. Most Improved awards are also awarded annually at our end of year production.
